But how stiff and hard to take off and worse to bring back is the speedo cable!

Sorry mate you can't please everyone... Only a gold sovereign is sought after by everybody... :laughing

If you're happy I'm happy and let's not forget it's exciting to put your stamp on things you enjoy 😉

Thank you for your openness guys. :)
The thing is I dislike so much all those dark grey, charcoal or black cabins you see everywhere nowadays. I find them boring and sorry but in some specific models.
Hence I had no other choice than the genuine black or Lockwood white.
Probably another shade like beige for example you name it might have been more subtle and less contrasted but I wasn't very keen on doing something from scratch: it should have been far worse! :scared
I'd already fitted the missus 25 with Lockwood dials and wasn't worried with the result.
But as you told it it's my customization and unfortunately not able to please everybody.
It's now far more legible despite the fact that miles are in big letters and km in smaller ones! :laughing2
But it's easy:
30 mls give 50 km/h (speed limit in towns) unless it's 20 mls (approx. 30 km/h)
50 mls give 80 km/h (speed limit on roads)
and so on. Just a bit of maths good for brains... :D

As you may guess - sticking to my guns :tt2 - here is just a larger view to give the opportunity to see the whole:

Another example of white dials in a MG TF (and F as well) with wood and lighter beige leather:
