The most gorgeous Rover garage in Paris (updated)

Post by Dorchester »

A few days ago by chance in a French FB Rover group a friend told us he'd found a nice goodie poking here & there on the web, a portfolio with both logos Rover & Land Rover. He agreed to let me have it, hence I sent him a nice Viking he hadn't yet got in his collection.

Well now have a look on my cabby boot:

A closer look:

Isn't it amazing? The very garage where my cabby was sold to a VIP (I can't tell his name, he's still living) by the Rover agent (1941-2015) who was himself a very respectable & well famed gentleman in Paris!

And even more: that garage front was a very work of pictorial art which is classified now - very sadly - in the lost Parisian heritage:

The garage was sold in 2006, converted in parkings & flats & the whole front building washed in white. Which iconoclast could have done that vandalism?! :scared :cursing
BTW I'm born 550m far from that garage a few years ago... hem... :angel
You know now why my cabby history is unique... and why I was due to buy it 2 years ago with all the papers - owner's manual, service history & lots of bills since the beginning! :D
In 2024 it will be a classical car, registered at the FFVE (Historical Vehicles French Federation)... if only we're still in good health both of us... Wish me luck... :)

What a great front for the garage. What a shame that they didn't keep it as part of the building's history. You would have been able to look out of your bedroom window and pretend you are driving a P6 or a 600!!!

Thank you for that.
But hard to look at those amazing cars with the naked eyes because in front of the garage is located the rather large trench of the railway line going from Paris to Normandy & Brittany!
It's all the more stunning they'd made that stupendous mural painting... :o
