Rover 216 s-reg (bubble) foglights

Post by Seven »

Hi all.
Am wanting to retrospectively add foglights to my car which I saved last week. Front only.

I can see so many listed on eBay- which ones are suited?

Also what else to I need? Wiring wise and switch wise.

Thanks all!

Thank you! It’s a lovely drive - after ten years, I forgot how nice they were!

I know. I drive one a few months ago, for the first time in probably 20 years. I'd forgotten how good they are. And the seats are really comfortable!

Your car is the same colour as the first R3 I owned......over 15 years ago! That was a 220 SDi.

I have had front foglamps on all of my R3s and I know that as far as the 25 is concerned, the wiring is already in the car and all that is needed is a switch, a relay to plug into the fusebox in the engine bay and the pair of lamps and their plastic surrounds.
I cannot remember if the 220 SDi had the wiring already there: it was a long time ago.

You could easily check: remove the switch blank from the dashboard where the front foglamp switch would be (centre right) and look for a spare plug behind there (it could be tied back out of the way, so you might need a torch). You can also pull the blanks out of the front bumper and look for the plugs for the lamps hanging nearby.

The lamps will be the same as those used on the 25 and ZR, the most difficult parts to obtain will be the plastic surrounds to clip into the bumper (not the same as the 25 and ZR) unless you would like to get them from Rimmer Bros at £33 each plus P+P (12.5% off in their winter sale at the moment if you order before the 16th of January).

12.5%…..then lads have gone all out *laughs*.

Thank you for the advice. I will get a look at the weekend I think 😁

Hi, i'm currently installing foglamps on my 211 and am planning to do a full thread soon!
Whereas the 25 has all the wiring in place alredy, you need to add it to the 200. You will need:
Foglamp surrounds
Foglamps from a 25/200/ZR
Foglamp connectors from an old loom
Foglamp Switch
Foglamp Switch connector from an old loom
Relay
Fuse holder
Crimps
Roll of 2 core cable
There are ways to do it more simply, but im going for everything as factory as possible without drilling any holes or chopping into anything! :D
