It seems that hidden behind the plastic arches on the front wings of my beloved Streetwise is well rust and lots of it.
Now with the arches in place no rust is visible so my idea is to remove and treat the rust and then paint myself and job done.
This will save me a fortune over new wings and a paint job
But I think to do it properly I’ll need to remove the wings to get the rusty bits soda blasted (proving difficult to get someone to do them on car) treat the area, prime with a quality zinc primer and topcoat.
Doesn’t need to be a perfect finish as behind the arch, just needs to keep the rust at bay for a long as possible.
So a couple of questions.
Do the wings just bolt on and off?
Obvs there’s going to be mastic sealer but any hidden bolts and tricks?
Does anyone have some scabby front wings lying about, maybe ones they’ve taken off.
They will only be used as temps to keep the car on the road whilst I’m sorting mine, so colour rust dents etc don’t mtter, just need to be cheap (ideally free!!) and road legal so no jagged metal or sharp rust holes.
Can anyone help with advise or wings or a good scrappie in the mids
Ta Bean
