I have a question concerning the steps after resetting the ECU. I have a 216i Cabrio XW Honda Engine D16A8 from 1994.
I pulled out the ECU fuse and the two 40AMPs in the middle for at least 30 minutes.
Should I fire the motor up and leave it untouched until the fan is spinning? Or should I fire it up and drive like a devil?
I have the problem that the mixture is odd. It pumps more petrol as it should and if I turn it off and then immediately on then it wont start. I have to wait at least 2 minutes before I can start it.

I don’t know if you are referring to starting when hot, but if so, the fuel relay behind the centre console is notorious for failing on the Honda D series. A quick and easy fix if so - you can swap it or resolder the joints. Should be plenty of posts on this forum about it.

thank you very much for the advice. After resseting the ECU and resolder the joints it fires up like it should. Turn it off and on again directly ten times with no problems.

Now how can I get rid of the petrol smell which still exists? The car is driving now correctly and smoothly then before. But the smell...
If you have a persistent smell of petrol in the cabin it might be a fuel tank issue, it's located under the rear passenger seat. That protects the tank in a rear end shunt.

Please, can someone show me in pictures how I can remove the rear seat? I know it is very easy, but I forgot the steps of pulling and pressing the two clips under the rear seat.
The tool resembles a Allen Key, except with male splines, you can pick up a set cheap enough, ph the cabby may be different.
There are soft copies of the workshop manuals available to members!
