I haven't yet posted a piccy of my car, so here is one. It was taken last Saturday, 5th July, at a meet for Rover cars and their owners called by the Lincolnshire Rover Club at East Kirkby airfield, home to one of the surviving Lancaster bombers, NX611 "Just Jane".
As I was leaving I was asked if I'd be happy to wait a while as the club wanted a photo of one of each of the Rover models in attendance in front of Just Jane, and my car, a 1.6 SE Coupe (MY '96) would represent the 200 Series.

A puzzle for you. Of the Lanc, the Tomcat, and the SD1, which is the odd one out?

The Lanc.
It's an aeroplane.
Or - the Lanc - it's only got three wheels...
Or - the Lanc - it's got more than one engine...
Am I getting close?

Is there a SU carburettor factor involved?
Re: Rovers at East Kirkby July 2005
'fraid not.
No, at least not as far as I know.

My guess is that it relates to the opening/detachable roof, which would make the SD1 the odd one out (sliding sunroof panel).

No, that's not what I had in mind. It's more fundamental than that.220 GSi turbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 9:37 pm My guess is that it relates to the opening/detachable roof, which would make the SD1 the odd one out (sliding sunroof panel).
It is the SD1 because it was made in Solihull at the ex-Rover plant, whereas, according to my sources https://www.lancaster-archive.com/lanc_prod_austin.htm both the Lanc and my Tomcat were built in Longbridge by Austin Motors or its successor business.
Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane" was one of 300+ built at Longbridge. Does that mean that Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane" is entitled to take part in Pride of Longbridge? And is she, then, one of the fastest and most powerful Austins ever?
