216 VDP (SD3) - Hello

Post by Benbeitler »

Hi.
Been meaning to post an intro so here we go….

Purchased Rover 216 VDP Auto (1989) in the Mathewson's auction back in April (2025). Paid £3000 - top end price I guess but it was part nostalgia and a light resto job for the summer (now complete).

Works done included new head lining, central locks adjustment, some electrical gremlins (inc sunroof) and remove light corrosion to under seal and floor pan area. Gave it a good valet inside out with a machine compound and polish finish and really came out a treat - now like new with genuine 34K miles to boot.

I’m into classic cars - a big time petrol head and currently also own MGB 1979 with a chrome bumper conversion and plenty of work done to this too. Also own a lovely Jaguar XJ-S V12 coupe 1988 and my daily driver is a BMW Z4 second generation 6-speed MSport 2010.

Looking for my next resto - something like a bigger Rover or even a Triumph which means I’ll have to now shift a car - maybe the Rover SD3! Any offers?

I’m semi retired and worked for myself all my life including running my own professional car valet business in the 1980’s (hence the nostalgia purchase of handling Rovers, Jaguars and Rollers).

Thanks for reading :)

Currently on ebay for £3650. Where did you get the head lining done?
