After a conversation via email, 'Daisy' was delivered to me on Sunday by a lovely family and was even better than I'd dared hope from the description and MOT history...
I took her for an MOT on Monday, which she passed with one advisory - a sticky NSF caliper, which I've fixed by cleaning the pad contacts. She was solid and tidy underneath but full of dry mud in the wheelarches, which has now been removed.
She drives well with no bumps or rattles and everything works, except the CD player - the radio works, it just won't recognise CDs.
The original plan was to put the car in storage until the Restoration Show in March but a guy locally asked me to keep an eye out for a suitable car for him, after being impressed for the 45 his son bought via the club 2 years ago. So, a deal was done quickly and all profits are to be split between Macmillan and the Cats Protection League.
After meeting the family, it was obvious how much the loved Daisy and wanted her to go to a good home, which she will now. Sorting this quickly was important to them too, as they can't wait long for some good news...
The car can still be available for the Resto Show, if it's still our best choice. It needs a new headlining and 2 new wings, which were supplied with the car unpainted.
Daisy came with a boot full of spare and fitted with several accessories, some of which will be available soon to add to the charity donations.
