Rover Tahiti Blue

Post by sjdcov »

Hi everyone!

Now, I know I've seen a thread about this on here before but for the life of me I cannot find it. I need some touch up paint for my coupe, but I cannot find the paint code for pearlescent tahiti blue. Can anyone post it below so I can begin the little bits that need doing.

I know that not all tahiti blues are made equal, as I read that on the now evasive thread, so does anyonr onow where to get the best one from?

Thanks all

It should be JRJ. As far as I know there have only ever been 3 Tahiti Blue colours. The first was a solid blue JMP in 1974 - 77, then JRJ that you will find on Longbridge cars from 1992 to 2003 and then JNO that was available for a brief time on Cowley built 75s. 1999 - 2000.

214GSi G79XKV (R8 No.1) (9 yrs of ownership)
25GSi 2.0TD KX56KXM Owned from new.

Many thanks for the code, certainly looks close after typing the paint code in and seeing what came up. Any trusted sources for paint? I know Rimmer Bros used to sell it but it's showing up as unavailable :headbanging

I recently bought some from Halfords, although they may need to order it in

JAE (BLVC65) .... Tahiti Blue...... 1974-1980.... Listed under MG Rover.... 1 Shade I think this is a solid, 'French' blue, used on Triumphs

JNO (BLVC1308). Tahiti Blue...... 1996-2001.... Listed under MG Rover...... 1 Shade

JRJ (BLVC965)..... Tahiti Blue Mica... 1997-2002..... Listed under Land Rover..... 3 Shades

JRJ (BLVC965)..... Tahiti Blue Mica.... 1992-2003....... Listed under MG Rover..... 3 Shades Be careful to get the right shade as they are slightly different. Quoting the year might help

JMP...... No Result

JAE and JMP are both 1974 - 77. They are a solid blue used across Austin, Morris, MG and Triumph. I guess one was Longbridge and one was Cowley or possibly one was Triumph and one Austin-Morris.

With regards to the various shades, paint suppliers will have Colour Chips to compare to your cars paintwork.

The company I work for (Morelli Group) can also scan your vehicle & either mix by the Litre or make Aerosols while you wait. Scanning colours is recommended as some colours 'weather' over the years.

Halfords make you wait because they get Aerosols made by local paint suppliers such as Morelli, LKQ etc. Oh yeah & they also put their Mark-up on it too.

Forgive me if I am missing the point, but I thought the three letter paint code for all BL/ARG/Rover cars from about 1980 onwards was stamped on the VIN plate?
