214 gearbox parts source (R65 gearbox)

Post by Captainbeaky »

Hello.

I’m needing to buy some bearings and seals for my 214 with the R65 gearbox.

The input shaft bearing is making a nice growling noise in 1st and 2nd ( gets less as you go up the gears) - a previous “mechanic” installed gear oil that more closely resembles kerosene ( judging by the smell and viscosity of what came out).

I’ve filled it with a variant of Fuchs 75w90 (which is the nearest I could find to the specified norm, and is designed to help quieten noisy boxes (useful with older cars). The noise has reduced considerably, but it’s still there, so it’s got to be fixed.

So I’m looking for a source of parts.

I’ve found them on Rimmers, is there anyone else?

TIA,

Mike.

Shipping of used parts into Portugal is proving a huge headache at the mo.

If it's "Scrap", then it's deemed as waste material and needs a waste carriers licence.
If it's from a scrapped car, they ask for the certificate of destruction.

A law unto themselves.

You could start here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181630234867
Not specifically an R65, but as closely related as the Pug MA, which they
also do parts for.

I'm seeing if they send it Royal Mail (Cheapest carrier for customs clearance).
Thanks for that.
