Valuation help!

Post by Sloces »

Hi all,

New member looking for some help!
My 80 year old father in law is no longer able to drive and has asked me to sell his 1993 216 Cabrio.
It has 104k on it, honda engine and is very tidy inside and out except scrapes to both wingmirrors (his driveway was narrow and had walls on both sides!)
Roof is in excellent condition and mechanism works well.
Massive wallet of paperwork.
12 months MOT and full service just completed.
50k til next cambelt.
The boot is also full with a big selection of spares he has bought over the years, from headlights to spark plugs and anything inbetween!

I'm at a loss as to what price to advertise it for. Completed ebay auctions seem to vary wildly in price from 500 quid up to 2.5k!

Any guidance most appreciated!

The MOT history shows only a couple of thousand miles covered in over a decade but if all the previous fail items can be shown to have been resolved correctly then you're well into 4-figures, particularly with the paint and hood in good condition.

There are a few on here too - https://www.facebook.com/groups/196144481494131

Values are on the up :D
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

Thank you.
Yes I have receipts for all MOT advisories being rectified, he didn't skimp on the old girl!

He only drove it over the summer once a week to visit us. Rest of the time its was covered in a dry garage on a trickle charger and started once a week.

Put the Grille back to OEM spec, car enthusiasts of the 18yr old rag it like you stole it types would put stainless mesh in the grilles of their dads 216GTi to look cool, if there’s an original insert in the boot of spares I would return it back to OEM look so people are not stereotyping the car as being associated with ASBO’s and section 59 warnings.

If your good with a paint stripper heat gun give the plastics a bit of a go over to return to black, if not confident you’ll burn the paint, put a decent back to black on it.

That being said, if she’s leak free, no major rusting issues underneath or in the arches and bulk heads, the seals are good condition, window seals are good and no usual window delaminating milky signs down by the cowl, a good interior and minimal cracking of the window rubbers, body work in good order, I believe a Honda powered Cab put up for sale summer time could fetch in the region of £1700-£2200 in above average Mot’d condition in average mot’d condition £1200-£1700
Below average mot’d condition £600-800 is the prices I’ve seen asked for (not sold for) going on Facebook and EBay motors as of late.

A pristine Low miler with all original receipts from
Purchase onwards with original dealer plates and original supplied equipment and accessories in as new condition could fetch £3200
