H842 DOD (Information?)

Post by lotus3512 »

Does anyone have any information of this car? Does it belong to a member?

During usual random internet browsing tonight I have discovered a Rover that is very intresting.. To me at least! It is a H reg 214S 3 door, I am aware there are very very few of these registered and taxed at the moment, even by the R8 standard however this particular one caught my eye especially due to its reg... - H842 DOD, and it has MOT until the end of the year (2021)

This... Has gotten me a little excited.. see I also own a 3 door H reg 214S - H592 DOD

I beleve that there are currently 8 R8 214S models on the road - this includes 5 doors and 3 doors. So to find another 214S, 3 door, same reg, same regestration area (Exeter) that is currently taxed & tested.... If anyone has any information on this car I would LOVE to hear it. It is still MOTd, however there is only 10 miles between the last two MOTs which makes me a little conserned about the future of the car but like I say if anyone here knows any information about this car I would be VERY intrested.. Thanks :)

I’ve only done a thousand miles in my cabby over the last 5 years and most of that is to and from the mot station. That’s all this cars doing, paperwork exercise.

Several years ago it was parked most days on an industrial estate in Leicester, just round the corner from where I was working at the time. I would drive past in my 'mega mile' 3-door 214SEi :)
We moved our office to a different area of Leicester in August 2012 and I haven't seen 'DOD' since.

I am guessing the photo you have found would be this one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/leicester ... otostream/ which appears to have been taken in 2009. The car always looked well cared-for, but definitely not pampered. From the annual mileage between MoTs (approx 2000 a year during the early 2000s), I would hazard a guess that 'DOD' was probably used for commuting a relatively short distance of 4-5 miles each way every day. The DVLA record indicates that a new V5 logbook was issued late 2012 which could have been a change of owner, but could equally have been a change of address or just a replacement because the original became lost or damaged. The annual mileage did not really change over the following years until quite recently.
I have managed to find it on Google 'Street View' for October 2008 and October 2014 :)
