Re: Which carburator rebuild kit do I need?
The idle speed and mixture are controlled by the fuel system ECU, which is probably located somewhere in the dashboard area (on a Maestro or Montego, which uses the same engine and fuel system, the ECU is mounted on a panel in the top of the glovebox). It is not directly controlled by the ignition E...

Re: Rovers at East Kirkby July 2005
My guess is that it relates to the opening/detachable roof, which would make the SD1 the odd one out (sliding sunroof panel).

Re: Speedo stopped but milometer works
Definitely sounds like a speedo head fault to me.
Maybe fixable by somebody with expert knowledge of electronics, but probably easier to swap out for a new or secondhand one: you will just need to find the right one to match your gearbox and tyre size etc.

Re: K series misfire diagnosis
Although its ECU is not modern enough to produce codes, my wife's Rover 114 cabriolet (8-valve K-series with SPI) was exactly the same as your TF (in terms of misfires and general flatness) when I took it for the MoT last year. It had been stored outdoors for much of the winter with a small amount o...

Re: R8 A/C
Yes, it was a factory option on the R8 220 and 420 cars, although few buyers specified it, as it was over £1000 at the time. Some cars also had it dealer-fitted (which I assume would not be as integrated as the factory option). Japanese spec Turbo Coupes (including the 'FDH' cars) had it as standard...

Re: 1995 216 instruments
Yes, assuming your car has the earlier dashboard (the change happened in 1995) it is very likely to be the speedo cable. (Later cars had an electronic speedo with no mechanical drive). All of the earlier cars had a two part cable and the joint is in the engine bay near the fuel filter (follow the ca...

Re: 1998 414S engine swap. 1.4 K series to VI or other ?
Simplest (upgrade) swap of course would be to a 1.6 K series from another 200 or 400, as it uses the same gearbox and most of the electrics will be the same. Once you go on to the next generation (25, 45, ZR, ZS, 75 etc) you will come up against later versions of the engine management system, distri...

Re: R3 Headliner Sunroof Aperture Plastic Trim Problem
I think I have found a solution, after looking at the headlining in my 25 Impression S3.
The clips actually retain the plastic trim to the sunroof tray, not to the headlining material. The material and backing board is merely sandwiched between the two.
I hope that helps

Re: Which carburator rebuild kit do I need?
:welcome It is good to see another SD3 (213/216) owner joining us. I am sure the carburettor will be a HIF44E, as it has the electronic choke control and overrun fuel cutoff. Best source of parts would be Burlen Fuel Systems: if you give them the FZX number, they should be able to supply everything ...

Green 214SEi, Ashby-de-la-Zouch 27th July 2025
I saw a very smart-looking 214 SEi on the move in Ashby-de-la-Zouch yesterday morning. British Racing Green, N-reg.
